What are the Precautions after Replacing Train Wheels?

After replacing train wheels, it is crucial to focus on operational monitoring, regular inspections, and maintenance cycles to ensure driving safety and the lifespan of the train wheelsets. The following are the main precautions:

1. Initial Operation Monitoring: During the first operation after replacing train wheels, the onboard monitoring system must be used to monitor wheel-rail forces, vibration frequency, and temperature changes, checking for abnormal vibrations or noises to ensure correct assembly.

2. Routine Inspection Upon Return to Depot: A visual inspection of the train wheels should be conducted each time they return to the depot for maintenance, focusing on flange wear, tread abrasions, cracks, or foreign object embedding to promptly identify potential damage.

3. Periodic Flaw Detection: After 1.65 million kilometers of operation or 3 years of service, the train wheelsets must undergo ultrasonic and magnetic particle testing to detect internal latent defects. 4. Initial Overhaul Preparation: The first overhaul is typically scheduled after 200,000250,000 kilometers of operation to repair natural wear and restore the standard profile. If uneven wear or out-of-roundness occurs prematurely, intervention is required in advance.

5. Bearing and Axle Box Condition Tracking: Newly installed bearings must undergo ultrasonic testing of the axle after 5 years of operation to prevent fatigue crack propagation and ensure structural safety.

6. Data Recording and Traceability: All replacement, inspection, and overhaul information is entered into the railway EMU health management database for full lifecycle tracking management.

Furthermore, replaced train wheelsets must undergo both running-in tests and quality inspections for double verification before being put into formal operation
